Buy the Jenny Overalls and Trousers sewing pattern from Closet Core Patterns. Inspired by vintage workwear, Jenny is a modern interpretation of classic overalls and wide leg trousers with an ultra-high rise, sleek functional details and a comfortable all-day-long fit.
Make a more sophisticated version of dungarees with a well-proportioned bib and optional utility pocket, or omit the bib entirely and make a pair of wide-legged cropped pants, full length pants or shorts. Optional details abound: mix and match the curved slash front pockets, faux fly front, single or double zipper waistband and rounded back patch pockets. To personalise even further, go all out with high contrast topstitching, or take a more minimalist approach for a clean, elegant finish.

As an ambassador for Husqvarna I have been loaned an embroidery machine so I wanted a pattern I could add some little details too. To see the process here but ignore my rubbish lip sync !
Jenny overalls were the most perfect match. I added them to the front bibs and pockets. I’m usually a pattern girl but I choose this denim as I thought it would be more versatile and I could mix and match with a lot of my tops.
Closet core patterns have nailed it when it comes to instructions so I have nothing to a here although the are a tad tight my mistake but I’m working on the lockdown weight gain! More pictures here I love them and the Mamma Mia vibes !

I made the trouser version of this pattern using a bark weave denim (with just a little stretch) from Fabric Godmother. This is the first time I've made trousers and I'm absolutely delighted with them!
I found the videos by Alexander Morgan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plae8_xAGfM&list=PLWvNxSS04DxCU_5mNg-Ex4p3L_fEmuYaD&index=1 on how to fit trousers (or pants as she calls them) really helpful. I altered the pattern following her instructions and made a couple of toiles to get the fit just right. So pleased that I took the time to do this, the trousers fit beautifully, are really comfortable to wear and so flattering. Normally I don't think I suit trousers, but the wide legs balance out my wide hips and the high waist skims nicely over my rather full tummy.
I've already ordered some more fabric in a dark olive cotton so that I can make another pair for a summer work outfit.

I finally made my Jenny Overalls after having them cut out for almost a year. I made these in a wide wale chocolate brown corduroy that I ordered from Fabscrap. I think it's a cotton poly blend but not totally sure. It has no stretch and sheds everywhere! I made a straight size 10 based off of my waist measurement. They fit well but I think a stretch denim or corduroy would be a bit more comfortable for longer wear. I had no major problems following the instructions but would have loved a few more pictures to show some of the trickier steps as a jeans/pants newbie.
I would also do a small sway back adjustment next time and thought I would want to shorten the crotch (as I do with a lot of pants patterns) but the extra roomy crotch ease is actually nice for the type of fit. I do find the wide leg in the somewhat drapey (?) corduroy to be a bit weird and would prefer the wide legs in a denim. Or I'd hack them into a straight leg and roll up the hem.
I used a single side zipper but did baste the legs together first to check that I could get in and out of them easily. The pattern suggests doing this first to make sure you don't need two side zippers. I wouldn't skip this step especially if you have a large hip to waist difference.
I loved putting in the hardware, which I was scared by at first, but it really went well if you follow some of Closet Case's online sew alongs. I recommend these to help a bit with sewing and fit. Overall these are great overalls!
I actually really love these overalls and think they are cool but I'm not sure about the fabric I chose as part of my style. It was a good choice for a wearable muslin but I definitely want to put the time into a denim pair with a slightly better fit.

I made some Jenny overalls using a forest green corduroy fabric and absolutely adore wearing them. I made them in a size 8 and graded to a size 6 for the hips as I have fairly small hips. I extended the trouser leg so they were floor length and found they fitted straight out of the packet. I found the instructions easy to follow - you do need to be fairly confident sewing however and I wouldn’t recommend this to a beginner. I love the pockets and they’re really comfortable to wear. I can pair them with a short sleeved top or long sleeved jumper and I’ve had loads of compliments on them too.
