Buy the Men's Hudson Pant sewing pattern from True Bias. The Men’s Hudson is a modern sweatpant that is comfortable enough to wear around the house, but can easily be dressed up for around town. The urban fit of these pants leaves a bit of extra room around the hips, has a slightly dropped crotch, and then tapers into a skinnier leg. It has an elastic waist with a drawstring, front pockets, and a cuff at the ankle.

Suggested fabrics: Medium to heavy weight knits such as french terry, ponte, and sweatshirt knit with a suggested stretch of 40%-75%.
Fabric requirements: 54" (137 cm) wide fabric: 2 - 2.2 yd (1.8 - 2 m). Extra fabric may be needed for stripes, plaids, or other patterned fabrics.
Sizing: Waist 28" - 42". Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements.
Notions: Coordinating thread; 2" wide elastic (1 1/2 yd); 1/4" wide cording (2-3 yd); 2" x 1" scrap of fusible interfacing; ballpoint sewing needle.

My husband commissioned some shorts for pilates and I had seen some good reviews of the original (women's) Hudson Pants.
The pattern was easy to work with and the instructions clear. I cut the legs below his knees and tapered out slightly for a better shape.
I love how the pockets come together on this pattern. The waistband is a bit fiddly but worth it in the end.
Husband loves them and has asked for some "long shorts" (i.e. joggers) next!

The Hudson Pants are a slim fitting jogger with a dropped crotch and tapered ankles. As soon as I showed my husband this pattern he said yes!
The pattern sizing is spot on for his measurements however, you might need to add a little length if you are taller than average.
The instructions were clear and concise accompanied with simple sketched drawings. The pocket detail is easy to attach and gives the pattern a professional look. I was pleased that for the ankle cuff I didn't need to purchase any tubular rib cuffing and just used a piece of the jersey. When top stitching the waistband don't be tempted to over look pinning the gathers into place. I did and it didn't turn out even and so I have to unpick and redo.
A pattern success and I've already been asked to make more!
