The Maker's Atelier Shell Dress and Top

Buy the Shell Dress and Top sewing pattern from The Maker’s Atelier. This simple shell shape is cut with the sleeve and body as one. A diamond insert under the arm provides the shape and for movement of the arm and body.

This style is designed for fabrics that do not fray and can be left with raw edges (such as boiled wools and scuba), though it is possible to use a four-way stretch jersey and finish the edges with a twin needle hem.

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?

Suggested fabrics: Felted and boiled wools, hi-tech fabrics and neoprene. The fabric must have some give (not suitable for rigid woven fabrics). This pattern is designed for fabrics that do not fray and can be left with raw edges, though it is possible to use a four-way stretch jersey and finish the edges with a twin needle hem.

The plain navy dress is finished with a twin needle hem. The colour blocked dress is in a boiled wool to allow for a raw-edged finish.

Fabric requirements: 

Top: 120/150 cm wide fabric: 1.3 m.

Dress: 120/150 cm wide fabric: 2.2 m.

Sizing: 8 – 18 (approx. UK 8 – 16/18, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: 2.4 m of bias binding if finished edges required.

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; A4/US letter print-at-home pattern (24 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (1 sheet) // Layers: No // Projector file: No. Please note you must print all sizes to ensure no pieces or markings are lost.
