Buy the Atlas Wrap Dress sewing pattern from Sewing Patterns by Masin. The Atlas Wrap Dress is a very versatile wrap dress that you can wear to work, out for drinks, to brunch, or for a long walk along the beach. This dress combines the formalness of a shirt with the playfulness of a wrap dress. Depending on your fabric choice the Atlas can look very elegant or quite casual. If you are new to shirtmaking, this pattern will teach you how to sew a collar and a sleeve placket.

Note if purchasing copy shop printing: The cuff piece slightly overlaps the front bodice piece for size J (only), so you will need to trace or draw out the cuff piece (a rectangle) if you are making size J.
Suggested fabrics: Lightweight woven fabrics, such as viscose/rayon, satin, crepe, cotton poplin or shirting, lightweight linen.
Fabric requirements: If you work with patterned fabric, you might need more fabric to pattern match.
140 cm (55") wide fabric: 250 - 305 cm (99" - 120").
Sizing: A – J (approx. UK 8 – 28, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.
This pattern was drafted for a height of 160 – 170 cm. If you are shorter or taller than this, you might consider shortening or lengthening the pattern.
Notions: 65 cm (25") of interfacing at least 110 cm (40") wide; two 12 mm (1/2") buttons; thread.
PDF pattern includes: Step-by-step illustrated instructions; A4/US letter print-at-home pattern (56 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (3 sheets). This pattern has layers so you can print just the size(s) you need.

I loved the end result but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit this wasn’t a challenging pattern to follow. I had to re-cut two pieces because wasn’t entirely clear which ones had to face up and I ripped out more than a few stitches! But the end result was beautiful! Despite it being short, the wrap around skirt inside makes it so easy to wear.

The Atlas wrap dress is a combination of a shirt on the top half, and a short sarong skirt on the bottom half. There are two sleeve options and there is a breast pocket should you like a little extra detailing. It is a fabulous design and I am sure that it will become a classic. Is this the ultimate wrap dress?
Considering the final outcome, this is a very straightforward dress to make. There are no linings, zips or button holes, and the instructions are easy to follow. Definitely a make for someone with moderate sewing experience.
This dress comes together relatively quickly, and is a satisfying make.
First of all, I am of a certain age and mini skirts are no longer an option! Therefore my first alteration was to lengthen the skirt.
I have to admit that this was not as easy as I thought it would be. There is a point on the hip where it says to lengthen the skirt if you wish. Unfortunately, because of the rounded shape if the base hem, it is impossible to line up and match.
I had no choice but to virtually self draft the skirt. I simply dived in and cut what I thought would work. Thankfully it did! It would be a great help if Masin could add a longer skirt to the pattern, for us ladies who need or prefer to cover a little more leg.
For me this is a dress that I can see myself making time and again, so give it a go ladies.
