Sew House Seven Montavilla Dress and Top

Buy the Montavilla Dress and Top sewing pattern from Sew House Seven. Wear this dress loose for comfort in warm temperatures, or use the tie or an existing belt for more waist definition. The top is darling tucked into a skirt or pants or worn more casually untucked.

The details on this garment are simple yet unique. The outer leg of the shoulder dart gathers slightly to form a ruffle, while an elastic tunnel gathers the sides at the underarm for an easy and comfortable fit with no closures to sew. When sewn in a more structured fabric, the sleeve/ruffle is more crisp and prominent. Sewn in a fluid fabric such as rayon challis, the ruffle floats or flutters gently.

The top (version #1) is somewhat cropped and lands around the high hip. The mini dress (version #2) lands a little above the knee, and the long dress (version #3) lands just above the ankle. Both the long and short dresses feature oversized pockets, and the full maxi features long front slits/vents at the hem.

Suggested fabrics: For fluid sleeve ruffles: rayon challis, silk challis, sandwashed silk, lightweight woven Tencel. For crisp sleeve ruffles: linen, fine cotton lawn, lightweight shirting, cotton ikat.

54" (137 cm) wide fabric: Top, 1 1/4 yd (1.2 m) // Mini dress, 2 1/2 yd (2.3 m) // Long dress, 3 - 3 1/2 yd (2.75 - 3.2 m).

44" (112 cm) wide fabric: Top, 1 3/8 - 1 5/8 yd (1.3 - 1.5 m) // Mini dress, 2 3/4 - 3 yd (2.5 - 2.75 m) // Long dress, 4 3/8 - 4 3/4 yd (4 - 4.4 m).

Sizing: US 00 - 20 (approx. UK 6 - 22). Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements.
