Great Foreman Jacket

After coming across ‘stanclothing’ on my Instagram, I showed my husband his designs, which he absolutely loved. So we were then on a mission to find some vintage fabric and a pattern to make a jacket.  We came across some old bed throws in a salvage yard which we thought would work.  We then came across your website and decided to go for the Foreman Jacket. My husband did the cutting out and pattern match, he is quite the perfectionist, and I did the sewing. The pattern was great. We went for size 42, and it fits perfectly. We were very pleased with the result and will definitely be keeping our eyes out for more fabric inspirations.

Monty John Jacket

My husband requested a jacket that looked something like the one Monty John wears on Gardeners World. After scrolling the internet we settled on the Merchant and Mills Foreman Jacket.  This is the first Merchant and Mills pattern I have sewn. The paper pattern is printed out on tissue paper but it was easy enough to trace over and I found the instructions clear to follow. The only alterations I had to make was to the length of the jacket and sleeves both of which I shortened, this did mean that when I added the pockets they were lower than the hem line should of been (if I had placed them higher it wouldn't of looked balance) to get round this I used double sided tape to hem and then hand stitched internally to secure. I also bound all the internal seams.  Hubby is very pleased with how it turned out and I am tempted to make myself one too.

Bill's Corduroy Foreman Jacket

Bill sewed and reviewed the pattern for us in exchange for the fabric and pattern. He enjoyed the pattern and said it was easy to understand. He did feel however that the 6 Wale Corduroy was a little too thick for the pattern.  The problem with the bulk was most pronounced in the collar, to counteract the bulk of the corduroy, he used a lighter cotton poplin on the under collar. He thought it would look great in a denim or a linen. To see more photos take a look at our blog.

I thought this was going to be trickier to make, but the pattern is so well illustrated it was great!
Lovely cut, good details - keen to make more.
