Fab modern take on a classic bucket bag!

Here is the Guro bag by Melilot patterns.
The pattern describes it as “a chic and practical bag with pockets for everything.”
What’s not to love about a practical yet cute bag? ??
I used a lovely cotton canvas called Strawberry Fields for the main fabric and a plain quilting cotton for the lining with both fabrics fused to stiff interfacing.
The pattern comes in two sizes. I made the smaller size of the two which is about the same size as my everyday backpack - finished measurements are height 23cm and diameter 21cm.
It has two inside zip pockets in the top and you can have as many sections/pockets as you like around the side. Mine has 8! I’ve attached a photo of the sections/pockets in progress so you can see how the inside looks before putting it all together.
The step-by-step instructions with detailed diagrams are easy to follow in theory. Construction was methodical and straightforward however I did find some parts a struggle which is why I’ve only given this 3 stars - or maybe this make was beyond my skill set?
When attaching the base my machine needle kept slipping and I couldn’t ease in the base without getting pinches and tucks. It was really fiddly and difficult with all the layers and stuff interfacing.

The zip seams are a little wobbly as I have little experience sewing zips but they work and that’s all that matters ☺️
I’m sure (as with all my sewing) it will get better with practice but it was a knock to my confidence having to unpick and re-sew parts four times! 
Based on my experience I think a confident or experienced sewist would have no issues with this - it’s a really nice bag, and a bit different from the norm!
The finished bag is surprisingly roomy, and will be put to great use - I can definitely see myself stashing this up with a picnic over summer or even packing PJs, a toothbrush and essentials to use as an overnight bag. But today it’s coming with me to the market! ?
