Buy the Dasha Dress sewing pattern from Lenaline Patterns. Dasha is a loose fitting dress with 3/4 length raglan sleeves and in-seam pockets. Ties at the neck and waist allow you to adjust the size of the dress at the waist and to open the neckline. Depending on the fabric chosen, the dress will be more or less loose. Two versions are included in this pattern: one with a ruffle and the other without.

Suggested fabrics: Cotton, linen, viscose, cotton veil, silk, cotton plumetis.

Fabric requirements: 140 cm wide fabric: Without ruffle, 270 cm // With ruffle, 310 cm.

Sizing: EU 36 – 48 (approx. UK 8 – 16/18). Please check the size chart.

Notions: 32 cm of iron-on bias tape for pocket openings; small pieces of fusible interfacing for buttonholes; thread.

PDF pattern includes: Step-by-step instructions; print-at-home patterns in A4 and US letter formats; large format file (89 x 273 cm). IMPORTANT: There are no borders on the print-at-home version of the pattern.

Chambray Dasha dress

I’m not going to lie the pattern is what I would called ‘faffy’ and not the easiest to follow - I don’t think it is a beginner pattern in my opinion as without some basic pattern construction knowledge it would be tricky. However, the results are so worth it! Be warned it looks huge before the ties go in and by its nature it is very generously sized - you could easily size down! I am happy with the results though!

Rainbow Crinkle Linen Dasha Dress

I've been looking for the perfect pattern for this crinkle rainbow linen for some time now. This pattern release was the answer to my prayers.

A nice quick project, I had it made in a single Sunday afternoon. My linen is a crinkled loose weave and moves around a lot while sewing, so it required some patience. I appreciate the adjustable style  of the dress because I don't think it would hold up to something more fitted.

I made a straight size 38, my measurements had me between a 38 and a 40 and there were still lots of ease. It's very forgiving because of the ties, a great option if you don't have time for proper fitting. I'm 165 and without the ruffle it will sit just above the knee (unhemmed in the picture because I think it needs a few days to drop).

I tried to wear it off the shoulder as an experiment but I have narrow shoulders and the neckline is too high, the top then overlaps the skirt and the shaping around the waist is lost. I don't mind wearing it higher, as intended by the designer. I'd have to shorten the bodice to wear it off shoulder.

It's quite fabric hungry,  even without the ruffle, which is true to the pattern estimation as the front, back and sleeves are large pieces. I used just over 3m (1.5m wide) for my dress because of the crinkle finish of my fabric and the pattern matching of the checks (I always cut on one layer and normally use far less than the pattern suggests).

I think a light fabric with drape would work best because of all the gathers from the ties. Be warned, it looks hilariously gigantic until right at the end, when you insert the ties. Just have faith and persevere.

I really love this dress. It's become one of my favourite makes. I can't wait to wear it in summer. I would love to make another from cotton double gauze next.
