Buy the Lisbon Cardigan sewing pattern from Itch to Stitch. This everyday essential is perfect for layering over a blouse, tee or dress. The pattern includes two sleeve options (3/4 and long) and two length options (regular and cropped). Suggested fabrics: Use lightweight knit fabric with at least 50% stretch. If your knit fabric has more or less stretch, you may need to use a smaller or larger size. Jersey, sweater knit and double knit are great choices. A lace that does not tear easily can be used for the front panels; crochet lace is a good choice.
Fabric requirements: 54" (135 cm) wide fabric: Regular bodice + long sleeve, 1 3/8 - 1 3/4 yd (130 - 160 cm) // Cropped bodice + long sleeve, 1 1/4 - 1 5/8 yd (120 - 150 cm) // Regular bodice + 3/4 sleeve, 1 1/4 - 1 5/8 yd (110 - 150 cm) // Cropped bodice + 3/4 sleeve, 1 1/8 - 1 1/2 yd (100 - 130 cm).
Sizing: US 00 – 20 (approx. UK 8 – 22). Please check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.
Notions: Lightweight knit or tricot fusible interfacing; six 5/8" (1.6 cm) buttons for cropped length; seven 5/8" (1.6 cm) buttons for regular length; 6" (15 cm) of 3/8" or 1/2" (1 cm or 1.25 cm)-wide straight fusible stay tape (or you may cut your own using lightweight woven fusible interfacing on the straight grain).

I have stopped searching for a perfect cardigan pattern because I've found it in the Lisbon Cardigan. The instructions are detailed and clear; there are different sleeve/body lengths to mix and match; the suggested fabric requirement is accurate; it is easy to sew and comes together quickly.
I find the Lisbon true to size. It's the cardigan I reach for most days particularly when I want to feel a bit 'tidier' and I will eventually have one in every colour of the rainbow to match every outfit I've made.
This is a fab cardigan pattern. Search no more.
