Buy the Collins Top sewing pattern from In the Folds. The Collins Top is a loose-fitting trapeze-shaped top designed for woven fabrics. Its A-line shape is perfect for hot summer days. It features a round neck, panel lines, a high-low hem and a centre-back opening, with a button and loop closure. It pairs perfectly with skirts or trousers that sit on or above the natural waist.

View A includes a three-piece raglan sleeve designed with extra volume, which creates a fun and interesting shape. The neckline is finished with bias binding.

View B is sleeveless and the neckline and armholes are finished with an all-in-one facing for a really clean and professional finish.

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?

Suggested fabrics: Consider using light to mid-weight fabrics such as linen, linen blends, cotton, gauze or chambray. For a softer silhouette, consider sateen, silk (crepe de chine or habotai) or viscose (rayon). Softer fabrics will drape over the bust (and create soft flowy sleeves), while stiffer fabrics will create a more voluminous and structured silhouette. You can also experiment with colour blocking and stripe direction.

Fabric requirements: If you are making your own binding, you may require more fabric. If you are using fabric with a directional print, it is likely you will require more fabric. You will also require more fabric if lengthening.

View A: 115 cm (45") wide fabric: 1.3 - 2.1 m (1.5 - 2.3 yd) // 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 1 - 1.75 m (1.2 - 1.9 yd).

View B: 115 cm (45") wide fabric: 1.2 - 2 m (1.3 - 2.2 yd) // 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 1.1 - 1.6 m (1.2 - 1.8 yd).

Sizing: A - J (approx. UK 6 - 28). Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements.

This pattern is drafted for a B cup bust and a height of 170 cm (5'7").

Notions: Coordinating thread; one 10 mm (3/8") button; 1 m (1.1 yd) of 32 mm (1 1/4") single-fold bias tape (View A only); 2.5 m (2.75 yd) of bias binding if you would like to bind the hem (optional).

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; A4/US letter print-at-home pattern (32 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (2 sheets). This pattern has layers so you can print just the size(s) you need.

The Collins Top

This is my second Collins Top I just haven't got round to photographing the other one (despite wearing it all last summer). I love this pattern - it's so beautifully put together and I think my biggest mistake was selecting such a bold pattern as you can't see where all the pieces go together. I definitely suggest something less busy and maybe making use of the pattern pieces to create some awesome block colour. Also, this isn't a very stiff fabric but I think something with a bit more drape would be nice

The instructions are super - I never thought putting a facing together wouldn't fill me with dread but In the Folds did it!
