Hathor vest hack 2nd version

I managed to squeeze a second very simple version out of left over fabric (outer M & M jacquard, inner remains of a vintage blanket (see my Jameela jacket review). I left off all the pockets and fastenings and cropped the length to accommodate my left over fabric.  This has made a brilliant extra layer for the winter that can be worn inside or out.  It is also completely reversible. The pattern is great and this only took a couple of hours to make

Hathor Vest

I absolutely love this pattern and have worn the vest to destruction! I used a Mechant and Mills cotton jacquard, lined with M&M hemp cotton. I added a welt zip pocket and a patch pocket to the lining leaving the outside welt pockets free for my hands.  The pattern is very easy to make and the instructions are excellent

Lovely Lined Vest

Very nice pattern. It is hard to find a lined vest pattern .

I made this Hathor from wool fabric which I hand-wove especially for a vest. I lined it in a jersey knit. I made a size 46 but I think I should have gone at least 2 sizes smaller. I found the instructions adequate but not stellar. The collar instructions especially could have been more clear. I changed the pockets to slanted patch pockets because I wanted to more easily rest my hands in them. I also made the pockets bigger and lined and turned them before sewing on.

I will probably make this again since I wear this type of vest daily in the winter. I will probably use a woven lining next time to avoid the stretching of the jersey against my woven outer fabric.

A very useful pattern

I love this pattern, it is so versatile and a really useful layering piece. I made a straight size 10 with no modifications. I decided to make the collarless version with patch pockets, and have subsequently made a second one in pre-quilted fabric. It’s a quick make but whilst it is a simple pattern with clear instructions I did go wrong when it came to the side seams then couldn’t work out why I couldn’t turn it the right way out! I did a bit of research on line then went back over the instructions and realised that in my haste I had missed a step ??‍♀️. Once corrected it worked like a dream so my advice is follow the instructions carefully. Overall I would highly recommend this pattern.
