Buying this pattern and fabric was a very naughty impulse buy, but it was clearly a good decision! I've worn my finished dress 3 days in a row and I may never take it off!
The fabric I chose is a beautiful checked brushed cotton from Sew Me Sunshine, which was only £9pm and the quality is excellent.
The instructions are minimal and easy to follow and the construction was a breeze. I think it took me less than 3 hours to make from start to finish once I had traced the pattern pieces (they are nested on one sheet, so you cannot just cut them out).
I usually wear a UK size 8, but I read lots of reviews that said the dress comes up very roomy. I decided to make the size 36 - I'm really pleased with the fit and I didn't have to make any alterations at all.
The finished dress is just how I hoped it would be - comfortable, cosy and cute. The raglan sleeves are not only easy to sew, they give the garment a lovely shape too. I will be making more Cassiopée dresses in the future - maybe a pretty floral one for the spring or a floaty double gauze version for the summer? I can't wait!

This dress is a really quick and easy sew and so comfortable to wear. There was nothing fiddly as there are no fastenings. It has a facing and some gathering stitches, but other than that it’s just about joining seams and hemming. I didn’t make any adjustments, though I did a little investigating before I made it and found that most people said they wished they had gone down a few sizes, so that’s what I did. And I think the fit hits the nice spot between huge and loose fitting. It’s definitely a generous fit and some may find it’s not flattering on their shape. I’m bigger in the hips and tummy and this dress works for that.
