Buy the Blair Jacket sewing pattern from Homer + Howells. Blair has a boxy, oversized silhouette with a dropped shoulder and french dart for shaping and balance. The double-breasted fastening and slim notched collar and lapel give a modern, clean look. Both the duster length (View A) and blazer length (View B) have a double yoke and shirt pleat on the back. View A also has a generous side seam pocket.
Blair works well made up in crisp linens, drills or lightweight wool as a relaxed blazer, or lightweight jacquard or drapey fabrics as a shirt dress. Pair the cropped version with the Maud Trousers in jacquard for a pyjama suit look.

View A: 115 cm (45") wide fabric: 2.9 - 3.6 m (3.2 - 3.9 yd) // 150 cm (59") wide fabric: 2.2 - 2.7 m (2.4 - 3 yd).
View B: 115 cm (45") wide fabric: 2.4 - 2.8 m (2.6 - 3 yd) // 150 cm (59") wide fabric: 1.7 - 2.2 m (1.9 - 2.4 yd ).
Sizing: UK 6 – 24 (US 2 – 20). Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements.
Notions: Fusible interfacing // View A: 8 buttons + 1 backing button OR 5 snap fastenings // View B: 4 buttons + 1 backing button OR 3 snap fastenings.

I
The Blair jacket from Homer + Howells is a really versatile pattern. It can become a coat, a short blazer, a shirt and even a dress, depending on your fabric choice and which length you prefer. I've made a version in linen to wear as a lightweight coat in spring and summer.
The pattern has a slightly different construction with a double yoke which is finished using the burrito method. The result is a hybrid between a coat and an overshirt, and it feels very current. I finished most of the internal edges with bias tape for a clean finish, but there is nothing wrong with using an overlocker instead.
The sizing is spot on. The model is a little oversized so if you are between sizes I recommend sizing down. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. This very versatile pattern is highly recommended for anyone interested in a relaxed, unlined jacket or coat.
