Hey June Handmade Willamette Shirt

I absolutely love this pattern. I purchased it having seen some great versions on social media and reading The Fold Line reviews and I couldn’t be more pleased with it. The instructions are clear and easy to follow step by step to end up with a beautifully finished garment. I made the suggested bust size and thought that the finished size looked as though it would be big but in fact fits perfectly. I didn’t have enough fabric to make in one colour so used two - I thought this would be a practice garment but I like it’s quirkiness so will definitely be wearing it lots. Can’t wait to use this pattern more and thoroughly recommend it.

Such a good alternative to classic button down shirt! I have lots of traditional button down shirt and it’s so nice to find alternative that I can wear to the office! It’s a less involve make as there isn’t any button and buttonhole but yet satisfying! I am getting so many compliments when I wear it, definitely a favorite!

Loved this pattern - just stumbled across it and after a bit of insta-research on how it looked on different bodies it hopped to the top of my queue.

I really liked the fact you can have buttons, or not buttons at all - the instructions were great although I did have a bit of difficulty with the burito-method which also included all the facings etc.

It's a satisfying make and would look great in colourful prints!

This pattern had been on my "to make list" for quite some time, but after seeing a couple of gorgeous versions pop up on my feed, it finally shot to the top.

It came together perfectly and I found the instructions clear and easy to follow. The fact that there are no button holes, apart from an optional one at the top (which I found I did not need), meant it was also a fairly quick make, as I tend to dither a bit around the task of adding button holes!

I made my version out of a viscose as I wanted a drapey comfortable shirt and that's exactly what I got.

I think this pattern is the perfect starting point for anyone who is yet to tackle a shirt, or a more experienced sewer who wants a less involved, but no less satisfying make.

Needless to say I already have at least another 3 planned!!

I made mine in straight size 10 (I'm 38-31-39) with no changes except for shortening the bodice by 1.5" (4cm) as I am just over 5'2". I made mine in viscose See You at Six fabric called Strokes in aqua. As this is a loose-fit shirt and you can getaway with no button closure at all, this has the potential to be a quick project. It wasn't a quick project for me, simply because I chose a slippery viscose fabric that requires extra care to handle and I really didn't want to ruin my (precious) fabric. I made view A with one button closure. I did make proper buttonhole, though it isn't necessary to pop it on or take it off as the neck opening is wide enough. I think this shirt will be perfect when Summer finally comes around, I'm planning to make either Ash or Dawn jeans to pair with this new favourite shirt. The instructions are clear and I love that the designer actually put in the instructions the finishing techniques; burrito method for the yoke and facing, french seam for the side seams, and if (like me) you choose the cuffed sleeves you'd end up with the raw edges of the sleeves enclosed by cuffs neatly. I am seriously in love with this pattern! It really feels like it was made by a maker who makes, who cares about the finished garment. I would definitely recommend this pattern.
