Buy the Cheyenne Tunic and Shirt sewing pattern from Hey June Handmade. Cheyenne is a casual woven shirt or tunic in two views. View A is a standard collared button up, perfect for making a cosy flannel or trendy chambray shirt. View B has a dropped neckline with no collar and a shaped half placket. Both views feature full or 3/4 length sleeves with optional sleeve tabs and shirt or tunic lengths. The Cheyenne can be dressed up for work in fancier fabrics like cotton sateen or georgette, or made casual with a soft flannel plaid or cotton shirting. Throw it on with a suit and heels or with a pair of leggings and boots - the versatility of this pattern will make it a wardrobe workhorse.

Suggested fabrics: Woven fabric such as lightweight cotton, rayon challis, chambray, flannel, wool blends, cotton blends, and silk blends.
Fabric requirements: 42″ (107 cm) wide fabric: 3 yd (2.7 m), except View A in tunic length which requires 3.25 yd (3 m) // 58" (147 cm) wide fabric: 2 yd (1.8 m) // Buy extra fabric for stripe and pattern matching or to cut the yokes, plackets, or pockets on the bias.
Sizing: XS – 2X (approx. UK 6 – 18). Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements.
Notions: 1 yd of lightweight fusible interfacing // View A shirt: Ten 1/4" - 1/2" buttons // View A tunic: Eleven 1/4" - 1/2" buttons // View B: Six 1/4" - 1/2" buttons (subtract 2 buttons if omitting sleeve tabs).

This is a definite TNT, ‘tried and true,’ pattern for me.
I’ve made another 5 over the past 4 years.
This one is a size small with no adjustments in accordance with my bust measurement
I made sure I positioned the top button a little higher this time which stops me flashing! It’s my best half placket to date – always a little tricky. It pays to be super accurate with seam allowances around this bit.

As of right now, the Cheyenne is my go-to casual shirt. The fit is great, the drafting is second to none and the instructions are comprehensive yet really clear. It has so many different variations as well: different sleeve lengths, different shirt lengths, different necklines. This really is a great pattern. I made a size small and didn't have to alter anything. Even the arm is a good fit and I often have to make a full bicep adjustment to shirts because apparently, I am Popeye. This blouse fits like a glove. With no adjustments to the size M this manages to be a slim fitting shirt even without any bust darts. It sits perfectly on my shoulders. There is plenty of room across my back and my arm movement is unrestricted which is amazing considering and there was very little ease that had to be eased into the armsyce.
I made the 3/4 sleeve version with the option of a turn up tag and grandad collar.
There are french seams throughout, including the sleeve/armsyce seam.
Being a ‘pop over’ shirt it was my first half placket. It was a little fiddly but I’m very pleased with the result and something I would definitely attempt again.
I'm going to make so many of these!!
