Buy the Arden Pants sewing pattern from Helen’s Closet. The Arden Pants are everyday high-waisted trousers with loads of versatility. They have an elastic waist and front and back pockets. Views B and C feature a jogger-style cuff in two different widths. The elastic waistband can be topstitched with a drawstring for a more casual look. You'll love wearing Arden all day, every day. Suggested fabrics: Light to medium-weight woven fabrics with no stretch. Linen, cotton (twill, lawn, poplin, seersucker, shirting), hemp, rayon/viscose challis or poplin, and Tencel twill work well. Structured fabric will have more dramatic volume and drapier fabrics will have more fluid movement.
Fabric requirements: 57" (145 cm) wide fabric: 2 - 3.3 yd (1.8 - 3 m) // 45" (115 cm) wide fabric: 2.5 - 3.5 yd (2.3 - 3.2 m) // Allow extra fabric for napped or directional prints.
Sizing: US 0 – 30 (approx. UK 6 – 30). Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements. Choose your size based on your hip measurement.
Notions: Thread // Views A and B: 1.5 m/yd of 1.5" (3.8 cm) wide elastic // View B: 1 m/yd of 3" (7.6 cm) wide elastic // View C: 2 m/yd of 1.5" (3.8 cm) wide elastic // Optional for Views B and C: 2 m/yd drawstring; 3" x 2" (8 cm x 5 cm) piece of interfacing for drawstring buttonholes.

I really enjoyed sewing my Arden trousers - the instructions are extremely thorough and include extra helpful tips along the way. I liked the fact that the instructions tell you to sew double lines of topstitching along some of the seams and bar tacks at the stress points of the pockets; they're not complicated steps, but they're not included in lots of patterns and I think they help the finished trousers to look more professional.
My hip measurement fell between two sizes and I chose to make the larger of the two sizes. I'm happy with the fit - they're possibly a little roomier than they need to be but they're really comfy and I like how they look. The only change I made was to lengthen the legs by about 2 inches (I'm 5'9").

Finally I’ve found the perfect pants pattern. These fit so well!! And you’re right, I won’t just be making one pair.
The pattern Itself was easy to follow, and I chose not to do the side pockets as I made these in cord and didn’t want them to be too bulky.
Next I’ll make a linen pair!!
