Suggested fabrics: You will need a fabric with 4-way stretch and at least 50% crosswise stretch. Keep in mind that your suit will be stretching both around your body and down it, so if your fabric doesn’t have 4-way stretch then it won't fit correctly. If you are making this as a swimsuit, you will need swim lycra. If you are making this as a bodysuit, any knit will do as long as it meets the stretch requirements. You can use the same fabric for the outer fabric and lining or use separate lining fabric.

Fabric requirements: Sleeveless: 45" wide fabric: 0.8 - 1.5 m (0.9 - 1.6 yd) / 54" wide fabric: 0.7 - 1 m (0.8 - 1.1 yd) // With sleeves: 45" wide fabric: 1.3 - 1.9 m (1.4 - 2.1 yd) / 54" wide fabric: 0.9 - 1.9 m (1.0 - 2.1 yd) // Lining: 45" wide fabric: 0.8 m (0.9 yd) / 54" wide fabric: 0.7 m (0.8 yd).

Sizing: XS - 4X (approx. UK 6 - 24). Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: 4 yd of 1/4" wide elastic; stretch sewing machine needle; thread (polyester thread is good for sewing with knits because it has some give) // Optional: Two 3/4" D-rings for an optional lace up front closure; soft foam cups (sizing up in foam cups is recommended for this suit); hand sewing needle (for sewing in cups).

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; US letter/A4 print-at-home pattern (24 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (1 sheet).

My new favourite cossie

I've made the cashmerette ipswich and this as my new swimmers. I'm in the plus side range and needed to make some swimsuits that I was both comfortable in and less likely than my purchased one to cause a nipslip! I really loved this pattern. I didn't make an FBA but really should have and should have sized up the sleeves for easier on/off. I made the plus size tester version so the final sleeve sizing may be better suited to my arm circumference. I loved the arm coverage here - great to reduce the amount of sunscreen I have to coat myself in for an overseas holiday. While the front is quite low cut, I felt the arm coverage cancelled out my discomfort about being too "on show" - possibly chalk that feeling up to my repressed Irish genes (or the associated Catholic school upbringing). Looking forward to version number 2 (with the FBA and aforementioned wider sleeves).

Seabright Swimmer: The perfect swimsuit

I have been wanting a swimsuit that pattern that can cover my shoulders because I get so red when I am out in the sun! I love how this keeps most of my upper body out of the sun while still looking awesome! There is a modification in the pattern that can increase the modesty at the bust line and it can also be made sleeveless!! Check out my blog below!
