Buy the Josie Blouse sewing pattern from Experimental Space. A trio of pretty pleats run over the shoulder and down into the sleeve. They then open up to a floaty bishop sleeve finishing with an extended cuff.

Suggested fabrics: Viscose, rayon, crepe, or any light to medium weight woven fabric with a nice drape.
Fabric requirements: 1.4 m (55") wide fabric: 1.5 - 2.5 m (1.7 - 2.7 yd).
Sizing: Ava – Mia (approx. UK 4/6 – 28/30, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.
Use your high bust measurement when choosing a size to get the best shoulder and neckline fit, especially if you have a large cup size. To get this measurement, measure around your body, directly under your underarms.
Notions: Fusible interfacing, 35 cm x 30 cm; six 10 mm (3/8") buttons.

I love this blouse pattern ? the buttons, the pleats, the billowing sleeves and it's so comfortable. I will most definitely be making more versions of the blouse. The pattern pushed my skill level but I'm so glad I did it, I feel accomplished and I've gained new techniques. There are also videos available to help you along ?

I'd had the Josie blouse pattern for a year before I got around to making it, who knows why I waited so long. As I hadn't made anything from this pattern company before I chose to make a toille with this very inexpensive fabric, I didn't need to make any alterations at all so it's now officially a wearable toille. The instructions are fab, I managed to make mine entirely with French seams even over the sleeves including the shoulder/sleeve pleats. Find out more over on my YouTube channel.

I was lucky enough to be a pattern tester for the Josie Blouse and its such a fab pattern with lovely details. It works best with drapey fabric, I used a light weight crepe for my version. Firstly the instructions are really clear and include diagrams showing you step by step the processes used, it came together as I would have expected, and I used the pdf version which has layering functionality, which I think makes pdfs much easier to use. There were some techniques I hadn’t used before such as inserting a sleeve vent and lap, the instructions and diagrams are clear, but I did find this tricky it being the first time I had attempted this and using slippery fabric. The Josie suggests choosing your size based on your High Bust measurement which is new for me, my High Bust is 37 inches so I went with this size and graded out to the next size up for my hips, as per the instructions. It fits really well.
The blouse fits over the head, there are no fastenings such as a button or zip to insert. The features I love are the trio of pleats that run from the neck, over the shoulder and into the sleeve, and the bishop sleeves with extended cuffs. It looks lovely on and I’ve had lots of compliments when wearing it.
I would definetly recommend the pattern, probably for an advanced beginner. But if you like it, I’d say give it a go even if you are a beginner, as the instructions are clear and I believe Andrea is planning a sew along to help with the more difficult areas of construction. And its such a beautiful blouse so don’t let experience stop you from sewing it. I can definetly see more of these in my wardrobe and already have another in the sewing queue.

It's all about the sleeves! The pleats on the shoulder to the top of the sleeve look so effective, then leading down to the bishops sleeves and extended cuffs... the sleeves are just dreamy!
The enclosed seams are another lovely detail and the fit was great.
I like that you can just print the size(s) you need for the PDF and the instructions are clear to follow. Definitely recommend!

The Josie Blouse is a beautiful top with a really well fitting bodice. I found the length to be absolutely perfect (I don't like my tummy on show!) and it is a very flattering cut. The sleeves are stunning and a really interesting and unique feature to sew - and not difficult at all! I'm so happy with my blouses. :)
