Vogue skirt 8882

A full skirt is suitable for all bodyshapes, but this is my preferred style as I have wide hips and a prominent rear with a relatively small, high waist.

The pattern really is easy as there are only three, essential pieces. I decided to make the skirt without the tie since I was using a mid-weight poly cotton floral purchased from a Goldhawk Road shop at £5 per metre. I am not good with zips, but managed quite well with version one (on the left). However, I had no end of trouble when it came to the second version and made no less than four attempts. I can only think that I had some sort of brainstorm.

Whilst the skirt went together quickly and more or less as designed, the straight, deep waistband is not right for my high, smallish waist. It would probably have been better to leave off the waistband altogether and just finish with petersham ribbon.
