Simplicity Misses’ Tops 8454

I really really enjoyed making this top – It was my first venture into Simplicity patterns and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I know the big 4 get a lot of stick about the lack of instructions but they had illustrations and they were clear and easy to follow.

I made version A I think – I decided to leave off the ruffle going down the sleeve seam as I thought it was a little over kill for me and what I wanted. One great tip I got from someone on Instagram is so use the rolled hem foot on my overlocker for all the ruffles as it would have taken forever pin-tucking them. Once the overlocker had worked it’s magic I them turned the rolled hem and did one line of stitching, I preferred this to the overlocked edge. It came together pretty quickly. The fabric is a crepe from Sew Over It and perfect as it’s got some good drape!
