Buy the Sasha trouser sewing pattern from Closet Case Patterns, they are perfect for an intermediate dressmaker. The trouser feature a lot of classic tailored details including a flattering mid-rise with a contour waistband and a slim tapered leg. View A is a full-length trouser with slashed hip pockets and a slimming pocket stay along the front, and single welt pockets at the back. View B is cropped, and omits all pockets for a sleek, clean silhouette. Both views can be sewn with optional belt loops, a hidden closure and pressed leg crease.

What we think: Take the time to get the fit right on these and you won’t be disappointed! There is also a great free downloadable from Heather to help you get the perfect fit.

Suggested Fabrics: 2-way stretch woven fabrics with at least 20% crosswise stretch (or 2-3% lycra), such as stretch denim, twill, suiting & gabardine.

This sewing pattern is available in PAPER format.

  1. 5 out of 5 Sasha for the office

Pattern: Sasha Trousers by Closet Case Patterns

    Fabric: 1.6mt Stretch Suiting Fabric

Notions: interfacing, metal trouser zipper 7” 5/8” button, sew in hook and bar closure

Sewing time:in total approx 5h (including tracing the pattern)

Modifications: I made a straight size 6 of View A without the back trousers. I did end up reducing the seam allowance from the abdomen to the knee to 1 cm to give my body a bit more space.

Fit: good. On me they look a bit longer as I am only 5ft2 (1.57m) and made no modifications to the length. Thought I think they are a bit to tight across my thighs, even with the extra 2 cm overall after using a smaller seam allowance.

    Difficulty: advanced beginner.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?: yes

Watch out for: nothing in particular. The instructions are very well written and easy to follow. For more details on construction, one can use the sew-along posts on the Closet Case blog.

Make Again?: Yes. On my next version of this pattern, I’ll trace between size 6 and 8 from below the waist to the knee to allow for more space for my body in this area.

The Sasha pattern is an absolute dreamy beast!

Wonderfully drafted as all Closet Case Patterns appear to be – the construction is really classy whilst also being very manageable and straightforward (although I bottled out of welt-pockets)

The sizing was really accurate and I graded from a 12-16. Even with this massive change to the pattern they fit really nicely with barely any tweaking at all.

    Looking forward to wearing them!

This is my very first trouser. The instruction was quite clear but was confused about the lenghth of the zipper: Unfortunately I did not get any respond from the pattern owner, which to me was frustrating as this was my first pattern from her.
