I made dungarees! I love how this pattern turned out. I sized down 2 sizes as I didn’t want this heavy denim to look too bulky and I’m really happy with them. I took 2” off the top of the bib and a few off the ankles (I’m short) but apart from that, shortening the straps a little and sizing down, that was it. I thought I might lose the front pleats but kept them in the end. I was toying with adding back pockets but decided not to. Onto some linen ones, and a linen jumpsuit soon from the same pattern.

View C, the dungaree dress option. I fall between sizes 1 and 2 in the sizing chart, but was able to size down as there’s a fair bit of ease built into the pattern. As a result of the ease, and the fact that the denim I used had a bit of stretch, I was also able to remove all fastenings (the pattern includes a side fastening & strap fastenings) to save some time during construction. The fabric is a medium weight denim from SewBox, which features a small daisy print. In this medium-weight fabric, I find that the dress does hang quite stiffly and sits away from the body; personally I like it, but if you’d prefer a closer fit, a fabric with more drape might suit better. I had been looking for this exact dress pattern for so long and it appeared and made it into my basket in approximately 3 seconds!!

Having made 2 versions of the dungaree dress now, it has become my one of my all time favourite patterns. First version used a heavy black cotton and second one used a grey denim (pictured). instructions are pretty straightforward, even for someone like me with not much experience. Only hurdle I found was the side tab fastener and I ended up sewing side closed on both versions.

Went down a size with my denim version and also shortened the skirt which I feel makes it neater to wear (sizing is pretty large and can swamp you with the midi length skirt). Will probably go back and shorten the black version also.

Poppers are the devils spawn – I have no idea if I am attaching them correctly even after about 3 hours on youtube!.

Overall, I love this pattern and will definitely be making more – I may even attempt the dungarees proper.

Kate: I made the dress version of this and I have to say apart from the poppers it came together really quickly – three hours from start to finish. I would recommend a heavy weight cotton or denim for this – mine is denim. One thing I did think was that the measurements were quite generous as I think if I made it again I would come down a size – although my measurement were the size I cut out. Apart from that I love it and will be whipping up a few more in other colours. It might be my poor hammering skills but putting poppers on was a nightmare – I felt like I failed as a woman having ask my boyfriend to finish it off for me!
