Buy the Melrose Top and Dress sewing pattern from Itch to Stitch. You can make a casual top or an elegant dress with the Melrose pattern. The relaxed-fit top or dress has a wide round neckline and dolman short sleeve, and it is the perfect blank canvas to showcase your pretty fabric. The Melrose Top & Dress comes in A, B, C, D and DD cups for a better fit. The Melrose Top & Dress pattern has three views, and you can make one of each for different occasions!

All versions of the Melrose sewing pattern include a wide, scoop neckline finished with bias binding, dolman short sleeves with cuffs. View A includes: a dress with cinched waist and elastic through casing and ample, functional, in-seam pockets. View B includes a top with cinched waist and elastic through casing and gathered peplum. View C includes: Short, boxy top with bottom band.

Suggested fabrics: Use lightweight to medium weight woven fabric with good drape. Rayon twill, chambray and linen are great choices. Lining For View A: Use lightweight, stable woven fabric such as cotton. The dress is not lined, but the lining is used for the pockets. If your fabric is lightweight, you can use primary fabric as lining too.

Fabric requirements: View A 135 cm or 54″ wide fabric // 1.8 – 2.8 m (2 – 3 1/8 yards), View B 135 cm or 54″ wide fabric // 1.4 – 1.9 m (1 1/2 – 2 yards), View C 135 cm or 54″ wide fabric // 1.2 – 1.8 m (1 3/8 – 2 yards).

Sizing: US 00 – 20 (approx. UK 8 – 22). Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: For View A: 16” (41 cm) of 1/2” (1.25 cm)-wide fusible stay tape (or cut your own on straight grain). For Views A and B: 5/8” (1.5 cm) wide elastic as long as your waist.
