McCalls Misses’ Dresses 6886

This is a jersey dress pattern with different length, neckline and sleeve options. I, however, decided to use this as a pattern for a t-shirt top for my winter pyjamas.

The sizes go from the 6 to 22 and it seems to be true to size. I made the size 10 which is closest to my measurements and the results fits quite like the dress in the envelope image.

I recommend using a jersey that has some weight to it. I tried once making the same top using thin and stretchy viscose jersey and I ended up taking it in from to sides since the top was so big. Also the neckline stretched quite badly. This time I used thicker cotton jersey with a bit of elastane added to it and the result is much better.

Instead of turning and stitching the neckline I made a band that I serged on the neckline edge. The length of the band was 85 % of the neckline. The band ended up pulling a bit so I added some topstitching on top of the serger seam that seemed to fix most of it. I also added a small breast pocket to match the top with the flannel pyjama bottoms I also made.

All in all, this is a great pattern that I will use as a basis for t-shirts also in the future.
