Lin jumpsuit cropped using cotton fabric

I love a jumpsuit so when Selkie patterns released the Lin jumpsuit I immediately bought it. Then it sat waiting to be printed for a good few months before I sorted out my fabric collection and then inspiration struck. Or maybe it was the change in weather as the sun came out and the temperature rose. I remembered I had over two metres of floral cotton I bought from a destash. I printed out the PDF and sssembled it in one evening and then spent the next evening cutting the fabric and reading the instructions to make sure I had everything I needed.

I took my measurements and saw that typically I fell between 3 pattern sizes. My measurements are below:

Bust: 33.5inches / 85cm

Waist: 27inches / 69.5cm

Hips: 32 inches / 81cm

I always find my hip and bottom area a problem and knew I would have to adjust this area. I decided to make the size 8 but grade down to a 6 in the hip area. However once constructed and some areas basted together it was still really big everywhere. The top half was really baggy near my tummy area and shoulder area and the trousers were like clown trousers – not the look I was going for. I did some research and decided to do a sway back adjustment, take off some extra from the bodice/tummy area and waist area of the trousers. In the end I removed four inches from this area and with the sway back adjustment it fit much better. I also removed two inches from the legs to create a more slim line look.

I love the overall look and the neckline is so pretty. The bodice is fully lined and the sleeve detail is really pretty. It has really deep pockets which are always a win in my book. I learnt a lot making this pattern and I’m really pleased with the finished result. I’ve given I five stars because the fit issues were due to my body size. The pattern itself is lovely and the instructions are well written. It’s got a lovely tie detail around the front and you can make it in three different variations. I’ve opted for the cropped trouser version and I love it.

I’ve filmed a vlog reviewing the jumpsuit and talking in more detail about the fit. The link to my vlog is below:
