Buy the Jump Up Suit sewing pattern from Alice & Co Patterns. The super quick to make Jump Up Suit is designed for two-way stretch fabric. It is sleeveless with a fitted bodice and wide legs. It looks great on its own or over a fitted tee shirt, shirt or blouse. The neckline is an unusual square with a nip at the front and vee at the back. No need for a zip – just shimmy in and join the party. Fun fact – a ‘jump up’ is an impromptu Caribbean get together, with some beers, barbecue and music – we can’t think of a better outfit for such an event!

Note if purchasing copy shop printing: Some pattern pieces are divided across two A0 sheets. The sheets will need to be joined with no overlap. 

Suggested fabrics: It is essential to use a stretch knit fabric for this design, preferably one with two-way stretch, meaning it stretches both lengthwise and widthwise. Look for one with some weight to it that won’t lose its shape easily – test it with your fist, and it should spring back into shape. A medium weight cotton, wool or man-made fibre jersey knit or rib would be perfect; some Lycra content will help to retain the stretch. A ponte de roma would be an excellent choice as it’s a stable knit that’s easy to sew.

Fabric requirements: At least 140 cm (55″) wide fabric: Sizes 6 – 10, 1.6 m (1 3/4 yd) // Sizes 12 – 16, 2.5 m (2 3/4 yd) // Sizes 18 – 22, 3.1 m (3 1/2 yd).
