Jenna Dress PDF

By Hand London

Buy the Jenna dress sewing pattern from By Hand London on The Fold Line. The dress is  empire line with a bias cut skirt. Featuring a darted bodice with two different neckline and sleeve options that are entirely interchangeable, you can choose from a low square neck with short sleeves and a pretty tie cuff, or a demure jewel neck and optional Peter-Pan collar with slim bracelet length cuffed sleeves, or any bodice-sleeve combination and skirt length you prefer.

Suggested fabrics: The bias cut skirt will benefit from a light to medium weight woven fabric with a bit of body. Opt for crepe, floaty or drapey silks and rayons, silk noil, flannel and soft cottons or linen. However, we have also seen this dress beautifully made in more rigid fabrics such as silk organza and lace and she’s just as pretty.

Fabric requirements: See image for fabric requirements.

Sizing: UK 6 – 24 (US 2 – 20). Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: A 22″ invisible zipper OR a 16″ invisible zipper (if you can still get your dress on over your head unzipped to the waist)

5 out of 5 Jenna Dress

I made this dress as a pattern tester. It is a real beauty and the fit is great. I had to make a small bust adjustment but after that, the bodice fit perfectly and there is no gaping. I had some small issues with the armhole but managed to solve it with making the seam allowance wider in the upper part around the shoulder.
I used lightweight cotton for it and it worked out great for this pattern. The fabric choice makes the skirt hold a firmer shape than it would with viscose for example. I love the sleeve detail on this version and it is so easy to construct.
