Burda Style Trousers 6573

I was really torn between this pattern and the decades of style 1940s trousers and I think I made a bad decision. The pattern is relatively simple but the instructions don’t match the pattern pieces which doesn’t match the line drawing in my opinion. I inserted the zip on the center back seam as instructed but the instructions don’t mention anything about the waistband until much later and then of course you have a big gap above the zip. The line drawing also seems to suggest no upper waistband.

Once completed they look nice enough but come up quite small. The length is good though. I tried to add a cuff on but gave up in the end. That is probably more to do with the fabric I chose. I used the moss crepe from Fabric Land and it didn’t work. I would stick with a more structured cotton based fabric instead for these.

I will make another pair but I will adjust the sizing, be aware of inserting the zip without the waistband attached and use a different fabric. If I get better luck next time then I will re-review. Until then, they are going in my disaster pile….
