Buy the Baby/Child Penny Pinny sewing pattern from Waves & Wild. The Penny Pinny is a relaxed pinafore dress with tie straps (which don’t need undoing to take the garment on and off) or traditional buckles. There are two lengths – mini to sit above the knee, and midi to cover the knee – and a back split can be added to both lengths. There are also FIVE pockets for hiding lots of stuff!

Suggested fabrics: Medium weight woven fabric such as corduroy, denim or linen. Fabrics with a little stretch will create the most comfortable dress but non-stretch fabrics can be used.

Fabric requirements: 140 cm (55″) wide fabric: 40 – 160 cm (3/8 – 1 3/4 yd).

The yardage is calculated for fabrics with a directional pile or print. If your fabric does not have a direction then you may need less.

Sizing: Preemie/small newborn – 12 years. Please check the size chart.

Notions: Some options require a small amount of medium interfacing, maximum of 20 cm (1/4 yd) // Button front option: 4 – 10 buttons, approx. 25 mm (1″) // Button side option: 4 buttons, approx. 15 mm (5/8″) // Buckle option (not suitable for 6-12 months or younger): two 32 mm (1 1/4″) buckles and corresponding buttons.
