Wonderful!, relevant sizing and I love the result :)

A review of Itch to Stitch Causeway Bomber Jacket

I absolutely loved the pattern and the result I achieved! I decided to do the reversible jacket, one side is this flashy blue African waxed print fabric, and the other side is plain black faux suede.

This is the sizes I chose in case that helps you making yours: I added padding inside the jacket to make it warmer and for that reason I went a size above what I was aiming for (so went for 8 in the end, for all the way, B cup, 8 bust and 8 waist). I could have gone size 6 for waist as its a tiny bit loose. The overall fit is relaxed. I opted to extend the body, which wasn’t very necessary as its long enough I think, and I also extended the length of the sleeves, which I definitely needed as I have quite long arms! I only had one faux pas: to swap right arms and left arms when sewing them on the jacket! I wasn’t sure how to match the seams and finally realised the very first drawing of the jacket on page 2 gave me the confirmation I needed to correctly place the arms. The instructions are correct, I simply needed to see the overall design to realise what goes where.

Each step were explained wonderfully. The drawings helped and the colours code and abbreviations were extremely useful. I would say it was a ‘careful’ way of making the jacket especially with all the “basting” steps.

This was the first jacket I ever sewn (I usually make object, bags etc but not so much clothes) and I am more confident of what I can do in the future.  For reference it took about about 45 hours to make and I enjoyed it all the way. I will be trying something new soon.
