Willow Dress – Grainline Studio

All Grainline patterns are exceptional in terms of drafting & instructions. This is an easy sew and a wonderful summer dress ( I’ve made 3 now, one in cotton/linen as shown, one in a liberty lawn and one in quilting cotton). The hip level fold makes it a little different and allows the sewist to fabric block if desired. I didn’t. I did a forward shoulder adjustment but otherwise ‘as is’. The sizing is a bit on the generous size and fits much differently depending on the fabric. I made my wearable toile in quilting cotton. Fit just how I wanted it. Made the next one in cotton/linen and it looked too loose in the body so I took in each side seam by about 1/2 an inch. I made the final one in liberty cotton lawn & needed to take it in by 1inch per side. Next time I’ll sew up the sides in a wide stitch and check for fit as it will likely need some tweaking.
