Too cool for school

A review of Fibre Mood Child/Teen Indigo Jumpsuit

My son saw me making myself a jumpsuit and decided he’d like one for himself. I found it tricky finding unisex/boys boilersuits/jumpsuits but the Fibre Mood Indigo was a great find. (In general, boys clothing is so dull but thats another conversation!)

I bought the pdf version so it already had the seam allowances included. Size wise, it is true to size. My son is a slim 8 and it fits really well – there’s enough room for growth but not too much that he looks swamped. He’s worn it a few times and says its comfy.

Construction-wise it was pretty straightforward. It was my first attempt at cuffs, and a collar with upstand however the instructions are clear enough that I could follow without confusion.

He did try the top part on before I made the trouser part and I think it could be adapted to a jacket quite easily as a hack.

I used a tencel twill which was a good weight for this and added neon yellow ribbon trim – he’s now slightly less Ghostbusters and more Beastie Boys from the Intergallactic video. Which is ‘cool’ if you’re 8.

Happy sewing! x
