The Yanta Overalls

A review of Helen's Closet Yanta Overalls

I have been searching for the perfect relaxed fitting dungaree pattern for some time now, and this pattern ticks all my boxes. As someone with a curvy figure, I wasn’t sure if this relaxed style would suit me, but some of the features of the pattern definitely accommodate my body shape. Small darts at the front and back give it a little shaping where you need it and an optional side zip enables you to sew it in a more fitted style if you prefer, whilst still being able to get it on and off!
My version was made from cutting a size 10 bib and grading out to a size 12 at the hips. It’s perfect. The only alteration that I made was to add an inseam pocket as I wasn’t too sure about the patch pockets at the front. Originally I intended to make the version without a zip, but decided to add it which meant that I couldn’t then add an inseam pocket on that side. However I stuck with the inseam pocket on the other side (one pocket is better than nothing right?) , but probably next time it would be more sensible to use the patch pockets.
This is the first time that I have sewn a Helen’s Closet pattern, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Lovely instructions and illustrations – and already plenty of inspiration over on Instagram if you search the hashtag #yantaoveralls
