The perfect lockdown dress

A review of Dhurata Davies Patterns Maxine Dress

This pattern is a wonder!

The dress is a really simple to make – the instructions are very clear and straightforward even while working out how those pockets fit into the seams. If you have an overlocker you can run this up in less than an hour as there’s no shaping or fitting to worry about.

The fabric is a strange scuba / suedette that I picked up at the Knitting and Stitching show in Islington last February (one of the last places I went pre-lockdown).

Perfect for lockdown work dressing – so comfy while being smart on top for Zoom calls. It’s getting a lot of wear with a polo neck and opaque tights at the moment. I love it and I’ve already cut out another version with long sleeves (also in a scuba) and after that I fancy having a go at a colour- or pattern-blocking version too – perhaps in lighter fabrics for summer (I am currently looking at snow out my window but I can dream!).

And just look at those pockets!
