Super Melilot – Deer & Doe
I was in between sizes so sized down. It fits perfectly with no alterations – except the length which is personal preference.
I choose view B. A casual shirt with drop shoulders and cuffed short sleeves and a mandarin collar. This is super fast to make up.
The covered button placket is useful when you are working with a limited button selection!
Initially, I made it up full length. My, it was long!!!!
The pattern has a curved hem and advises you to hem before you sew up the sides. Don’t do this if you have pesky material that grows as you handle it!! Unfortunately, I ended up with the fronts at different lengths.
It was too long anyway so I took off 2 inches to the front and more to the rear to even up the high/low hem. It is still plenty long enough to tuck in.
I’ve just received the latest Next catalogue and there was an image of a whole row of Melilot type shirts in beautiful colours. I’ve many more planned!
