Stripes and Summer

A review of In the Folds Barkly Skirt

Emily and her team did a great job of explaining how to assemble this skirt, and I feel like it was the best explanation I’ve had of how to insert an invisible zipper. Especially helpful was the tip to sit down and measure your hips in that position before choosing your size- the spread is real folks, and you don’t want to make something you can’t sit down in! I’m going to use that tip for all my closer fitting skirts, pants, and dresses in the future.

I really love the roomy pockets and graphic design of this skirt. The waistband is a great size, and the hem facing is genius.

I would love to make this skirt again, especially the versions with the more involved pattern lines, and play with color families, or varying patterns in the same color palette. I would recommend this skirt to a wide variety of sewists because it’s not that difficult to assemble (depending on which view you choose), the instructions are so clear, and also there’s just so much choice and variety to make this a fun project for more advanced sewists as well (which I’m not).

Summer is for Stripes!
