Sew cute!

This is a really fabulous pattern from Cocowawa Crafts and would be suitable for sewists of all abilities, as long as they are confident sewing button holes.

I used a beautiful khaki fabric for my dress (I think it’s a cotton/linen blend) and it has a lovely crisp hand and good structure. I have seen the Honeycomb made up in a wide range of fabrics, from drapey rayons to soft needlecord and it really does work for pretty much any woven fabric!

I thought the instruction booklet was well-written and very comprehensive. I had no problems at all during construction and the whole project came together really well.

I was in a bit of a quandary when it came to choosing a size to make. My measurements put me in the size 2, but I noticed that there is quite a bit of ease in the pattern and I was worried about my structured fabric looking a bit boxy. Had I been using something drapey, the 2 would have been fine, but I opted for the size 1 and even though it’s a tiny bit tight across the bust, I’m really pleased with the silhouette and the overall fit.

The only alteration I made was to widen the ties from 1cm to 3cm finished width. I saw this on another version on Instagram and I think the bigger bows look really pretty!

I’d like to make the Honeycomb again in a softer fabric with more movement, as it’s ideal as a breezy summer dress! Maybe a nice linen blend or some cotton voile. My finished garment is exactly how I’d imagined it and I love it! Cute, comfy and easy to wear with lots of pretty details – perfect!
