Made up this Somerset T for the sole purpose of acquiring a much needed cold-weather layering piece. The Step-by-step clear instructions so appreciated! Never having used a twin needle before on my ‘68 Kenmore I was apprehensive. (I did buy a twin needle for <$5.) Yet after reading my machine manual (only 1 small paragraph on twin needles!), simply went for it. Beautiful results on stretchy knit. I used two different colored threads, a deep purple & a pine green on this teal stretch fabric. Nice!
Winter is coming here soon, I intend to sew more Somerset Ts as layering pieces for warmth. This first one is well constructed, soft and skimming. Do read the body measurements as I sewed up a 16 (I’m a 10 RTW). The ‘negative ease’ does make this a body-hugging garment, exactly what I am looking for. The longer sleeves will be warming & wonderful too.
This is a positive self-esteem builder/endeavor!
