Peppermint Playsuit – refashion

Reviewed by Claire Cooper on 23rd June, 2020

My daughter really liked the look of the peppermint playsuit and requested a version in Black!!! – can’t you just tell it’s her favourite thing to wear?

We refashioned old jeans to make this which adds some interesting lines. The jeans pockets were repurposed for the playsuit too.

As far as PDF patterns go, this one is super easy to tape together as there are not many pages. The instructions are very easy to follow and the hardest thing about this pattern is installing an invisible zip! It’s well drafted and all the notches match.

The length is good – we are a long torso family and didn’t need to lengthen the pattern at all, of course, there is some adjustment available in the tie straps. I thought the legs might be a bit too revealing, but they are actually a nice length. Even I would feel comfortable wearing this length and I’m not known for wearing short shorts.

If I’m honest there’s much better fabric than jeans weight denim for this pattern, it’s a tad too bulky in places and it would be perfect in linen or chambray instead. You can read more about this make, over on Ragbags and Gladrags.
