ORLA top – Tilly & the Buttons

A review of ORLA top - Tilly & the Buttons

I LOVE my new Tilly and the Buttons Orla blouse! I made it in Sew Essential’s John Kaldor Prestige crepe in cream and black for a striking retro look and a nod to the swinging 60s!

We started stocking Tilly’s patterns a few months ago at Sew Essential and I was desperate to try one and see what all the fuss is about. Although I’ve only made a few garments to date, so I am probably classed as a beginner, I do like a challenge and decided to make the Orla classed as an ‘improver’ pattern by Tilly.

Despite my limited experience I found it incredibly easy to sew the Orla blouse thanks to Tilly’s excellent instructions and access to the sewalong online.

The bit I found most challenging was sewing the sleeves, but a lot of perseverance and I got there in the end!

The blouse looks just like I imagined and it is a pleasure to wear.

I would definitely recommend this pattern to a friend, the fit is just lovely and very flattering, especially for an athletic build like mine – the darts and curved hem give it a lovely feminine feel.
