New Look dress 6207

I’m a beginner and this was my first dress I made from a pattern so its suitable for beginners so long as you have a rough idea about what you are doing.

I used an old pair of curtains so the material was much more stiff than recommended but I think it worked well – just not as flowing as the pattern image. The stiffness also meant the gathering was more obvious at the back as its fitted by a tie at the back.

The pattern was simple to use – the yoke neckline took a while to figure out and stitch the inside.

I would alter the length if I was to do it again as it was pretty short and didn’t leave much for hem – though this may be due to the material being more stiff so not hanging as straight. I also didn’t bother to put fastenings on the yoke as it wasn’t required I just stitched the two together so you could make the back one piece.

I’d definitely make it again I love it, I think its probably good for any body shape – I’ve got a short body and big hips so it flattered my shape by not clinging in these areas.
