Ness Skirt

I was excited to make this skirt and the instructions were amazing and the videos provided were so helpful, I wish all instructions were in video form with bright colours and fun music.

I found my size on the charts and found that I was between two sizes so I followed their instructions on how to grade between a smaller hip size and a larger waist size. It was my first time doing this and I was very nervous that I was going to do something wrong and the skirt and the waistband would completely not work together at all, but happy to say that didn’t happen!

When everything did come together I did find that the skirt was too big on me and I am just a beginner and don’t know any tailoring techniques so I just decided to sew the side seams in a bit on each side. One side worked great, the other one did not and I had to seam rip a few times, then I ended up just sewing in the waist seam – honestly, I think it worked out pretty good.

This is the mini skirt length which IMO is not mini on me but that is fine, I don’t like really short skirts. I am 5’4 and this is where the mini skirt version with no shortening sits.

Overall I am very proud of how the skirt came together – it looks professionally constructed. The fit was not the best for me and someone else on Youtube made a comment that this is drafted for people who are curvier in the bum/hips – despite all my best efforts in the gym my bum is not thick enough to fully fill the skirt out, but I will still wear it.
