McCalls Shirtdresses with Pockets & Belt 7351

This is my Strawberry Fields Shirtdress. This is a cup-sized pattern which is great. I sewed a size 16 c-cup. I added 3/4″ to the bodice length which in retrospect I didn’t need. I made view A without all the patch pockets and I took the side in-seam pockets from view D and added them.

This is a lovely pima cotton lawn from the shop that is a dream to sew and wear. I used pre-made narrow bias binding in grey to finish the armholes and the hem. The buttons are red and plastic but I like how they pick out the red in the fabric.

The shirtdress has all the characteristics of a classic shirt – separate buttonband, back yoke and two-piece collar. It is not difficult per- e but you have to (cut) and sew accurately to make sure everything fits together, and expect it to take a bit longer.

I’ve got such a lot of wear out of this dress already this spring & summer. I like the slightly longer length and it is just so comfortable to wear. More on my blog here: http://holmsown.co.uk/mccalls-7351-strawberry-fields-shirtdress/
