A review of Megan Nielsen Olive Dress and Top

I bought the Olive dress/top almost as soon as it came out and I’ve made three versions (a top and dress for me, and a top for my mum) within the last month, so it’s fair to say that I’m a fan of this pattern!

I was mainly drawn to the Olive because I’ve been looking for a looser fitting summer dress pattern and I really liked the look of the V-insert at the neckline – it’s something a bit different from other patterns I own.

The Olive pattern is really nice to sew – the V-insert is slightly fiddly but not too difficult, but you do that bit first and after that it’s a pretty simple pattern to sew.

The instructions are very detailed and easy to follow. I liked the fact that they offer two options for sewing the V-insert – I used the apparently slightly trickier method that gives you a cleaner finish for all three of my versions and it’s not too complicated at all as long as you’re prepared to be precise!

The fit is pretty relaxed, but the sizing seems to be accurate. I made the size recommended for my measurements and it’s given me a very similar style to the models in the pattern photos.
