Cute but room for lunch!

This was the first CocoWawa pattern I had made and I was impressed with Ana’s clear and concise instructions and helpful illustrations.

I made a size three as per my measurements, although I ended up with quite a bit of excess fabric in the sleeve/armpit area and trimmed this down. Arguably, a little too much as I only realised when I saw these photos that the buttons gape a little! The top of the dress is designed to be loose-fitting, but as I have narrow shoulders, this didn’t look quite right on me. I took in approximately 2cm from the waist to the armpit, and also took some of the volume and length from the sleeves. (Edited to add: Now I now how to do a narrow shoulder adjustment, I would do this instead! I also find CocoWawa’s sizing a little generous over all but I think this is mostly Ana’s fit preference. Always a good idea to refer to the finished garment measurements!)

My favourite feature is the ties at the waist – not only are they super feminine and flattering, they allow you to discreetly loosen the waist of your dress after a particularly indulgent lunch!

I chose a pink viscose twill from Sew Me Sunshine which was wonderfully soft and drapey and so nice to wear during the hot summer months.

I was provided with this fabric free of charge by Sew Me Sunshine in exchange for this blog post. The Honeycomb dress pattern was provided by CocoWawa crafts in exchange for taking part in the Honeycomb Blog Tour. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
