Lola Dress – Victory Patterns

A review of Victory Patterns Lola Dress

I love the Lola dress from Victory patterns, it’s one of my favorite patterns and very versatile. I’ve made short and long sleeved versions from various weights of jersey and sweatshirt fabric and one made of fleece.
I love the big pockets, but I’ve also made a couple of versions where I left off the pockets and joined the bodice and skirt parts by overlapping the pattern pieces at the seam allowances, thereby eliminating the waist seam, which gives a more elegant silhouette.
Instructions are very clear and thorough, with helpful diagrams. I’d say that a confident beginner should probably be able to make up the pattern.
Since I like my garments closer fitting, I chose making the dress a size smaller in the stretchier jersey fabrics, which works very well. In the fabrics with less stretch, especially the fleece, I needed to go up a size. It’s also important to know that the cuffs are drafted for stretchy ribbing fabric and may need to be widened when using sweatshirt fabric.
As you can see from the many versions I made, I can wholeheartedly recommend the pattern.
