I have seen so many gorgeous versions of this pattern out there! It’s a true goodie and if you haven’t made it already – you will not be disappointed!!
I made the Kielo Wrap Dress by Named Clothing as my #sewtogetherforsummer entry, a challenge which runs every year with a different style of summer outfit each time. This year the theme was wrap dresses and its hosted by @sewing_in_spain, @rocco.sienna and @sewsarahsmith on instagram.
The dress only has three pattern pieces to it – the front, two back pieces and a belt tie! So it’s super simple construction wise. There’s also an option to either use knit bias tape to finish the neckline/armhole edges or just finish them with a simple folded hem. For my version I decided to use the tape option, but made my own by cutting 3cm width strips of the fabric and finishing the edges as you would if you were using bias binding (the steps for how to do this are very clear in the instructions so no panicking people!)
I had 2 metres of this lovely viscose jersey in my stash from Girl Charlee, it’s black based with a light brown diamond pattern running horizontally. I cut out the front piece on the fold, but then cut the back pieces on a single layer. The fabric effectively has a fancy stripe running horizontally so I thought it would be nice to match up at least the back seam of the dress, but I didn’t worry too much about the side seams as when it’s wrapped around – it’s difficult to make these out anyway!
