Kelly Anorak jacket

A review of Closet Core Patterns Kelly Anorak

I made the Closet Case Files “Kelly” anorak and I am totally in love with it!

The pattern is beautifully drafted; everything lined up exactly and worked exactly as described. I found the instructions to be very much on the brief side; however, there are a number of tutorials for the trickier sections on the Closet Case Files blog which definitely helped a lot and I would highly recommend both reading those and having a good look at other blog posts about making the coat.

I lined just the hood with a Liberty tana lawn which I also used to make bias binding for the bottom hem and the edges of the plackets as well as the drawstring channel. I really love the look this gives.

The main fabric is a gorgeous soft shell which is showerproof on the outside and fleece on the reverse, making this an amazing autumnal coat. My sewing machine struggled rather with the thickness and some areas of topstitching took several attempts to get right. I found a longer stitch length helped.

In all I think this project took around 20 hours to pull together but it was well worth it!
