I look like a meringue……but a lovely pattern
A review of Myosotis Dress
I’ve been tempted by this dress for a few years, since I saw it in sewing magazines and as the trend seems to be heading for floaty, romantic dresses I thought I would give it a go.
I searched for ages in my stash (which had to be moved to external storage due to volume – please tell me I am not alone here!) to find a piece I’d found on e-bay UK a few years ago – hoping it would be the perfect match. Again, being a French company, I opted for one size larger than I’d normally chose – a 38 in this case. It was a joy to sew, the pattern instructions were clear and the construction made sure all was perfectly finished.
I wanted to make the tiered version and that is what I did – but when I tried it on, I was despondent – this style does not suit me, especially in the fabric I chose. Being someone who finds it hard NOT to wear jeans and boots/flat shoes all the time, I feel ridiculous wearing a dress. So I shortened it at the bottom hem and made it into more of a tunic.
If I do this again, I’d chose a plain colour and/or dark shade and maybe make the view without a bottom tier. Or go for the hack and make it really long like the latest reviewer did. Faultless pattern, I only gave it 4 stars as I probably won’t wear it much.
