Hilo Dress review

If you crave a palate-cleansing make, this is the dress for you! It took me longer to take together the pattern than to sew it. Particularly quick if you have a serger, so it can be entirely constructed with that. I also chose to leave the hems raw. I lengthened the dress to maxi more as a test, since I have never ever worn a maxi dress or skirt.
I made it in a nice mercerized cotton jersey. Originally I was seeking either a silk jersey, or a Bemberg jersey. However, the former was way too sheer, and the latter nowhere to be found. The slight increase in weight in my fabric makes for a more structured and dramatic look, I think. I made the higher back version, tho I am dreaming of a silk jersey version with the low back….regardless of the sheerness!
